Daniela Kovačić Muzio (1983) is a figurative painter born and raised in the Chilean Patagonia and is currently working in Chicago.
Her work explores different topics around self-identity, largely through the depiction of women and children.
"My work changes constantly as it is a product of my life. However, I have come to understand that my artwork is the journey where I try to find myself; a self-affirmation of identity and reflections upon the things that trouble or fascinate me. In away, I try to make sense of the world through painting. Most of the time I develop a subject matter through Series, that way I allow my self to explore a theme with out the pressure of having to “nail it” and most importantly, with the freedom to change my mind."
Daniela has received prestigious awards and scholarships such as Fulbright, Becas Chile, Robert Gamblin Painting Award, NYAA scholarships and residencies. She was one of the 10 finalists for The Bennett Prize 2019 and most recently received the Eben Demarest Award. Daniela is presently working on her solo show for October 2024 at Stone Sparrow, New York.
Her work has been exhibited and published internationally. She has a master's degree from the New York Academy of Art and a bachelor's degree from Universidad Finis Terrae, Santiago, Chile.
